Dre Site C – Disposing of Bonded Asbestos

Did you know that at our site C Waste Transfer Station we can accept bonded asbestos products up to a maximum of 10 tons at any one time.

Asbestos

Bonded asbestos is a term to describe products that contain asbestos but which cannot readily release the asbestos fibres because they are locked into a matrix of other substances. A good example of these are corrugated roof sheets and flat roofing slates.

When wishing to use our disposal facility there are a number of important points to consider. Two of the most important are;

  1. the necessity to keep within the law when handling and disposing of asbestos
  2. Keeping you, your staff and members of the public safe from exposure to asbestos fibres

When transporting asbestos you must have a Section 62 Consignment Note. This is a three-part form that should be completed to accompany the waste at all times.  If you have any questions regarding this aspect we can help you.

For those contractors new to removing, handling and disposing of asbestos, or indeed if you need to review your duties, The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 must be adhered to. The Approved Code of Practice L143 is a detailed guidance document on the subject.

However, as a task manual for Building, Maintenance and Allied Trades on non-licensed asbestos work we recommend that you order or download HSG210 Asbestos Essentials and look at task sheet em9 when you need to dispose of any non-licensed asbestos-containing products.

Personal protective equipment & respiratory protective equipment required.
